Γιατί ανηφόρισαν και φέτος όλοι στο Νταβός

Στο Παγκόσμιο Οικονομικό Φόρουμ, το οποίο πραγματοποιείται αυτές τις ημέρες στο Νταβός της Ελβετίας, αρχηγοί κρατών, δισεκατομμυριούχοι επενδυτές και επικεφαλής επιχειρηματικών κολοσσών συναντώνται και συζητούν για την οικονομική αλλά και την πολιτική κατάσταση του κόσμου, όπως και για τις προκλήσεις που αντιμετωπίζουν οι σύγχρονες κοινωνίες. Το φετινό σημαντικό μήνυμα θα αφορά την κατάσταση των αγορών.

Αν κανείς ρωτήσει τους άνδρες και τις γυναίκες που παρακολουθούν τις εργασίες, κατά πόσον το Φόρουμ είναι ο παλμός όλων όσων συμβαίνουν στην υφήλιο, θα λάβει πολλές και εντελώς διαφορετικές απαντήσεις.

CAN THE EUROZONE SHAKE OFF THE GLOBAL GLOOM?

The global economy has shifted from being the potential saviour of the eurozone economy to an additional source of uncertainty for it.

The outlook for the global economy is worsening quickly, raising question marks over the eurozone’s recovery. Will consumption and investment rise by enough to offset the likely weakening of eurozone exports, or will the recovery peter out? What does the deteriorating global environment mean for the ECB’s attempts to raise inflation and to ward off threats to the debt sustainability across the eurozone? The currency union is at no risk of falling back into recession in 2016, but last year might turn out to have been as good as it’s going to get.

The War for Islam

Since the Iraq War, sectarian conflict between Shiites and Sunnis has emerged as a major fissure in Middle East politics — fueling conflicts in Lebanon, Syria, Iraq, and Yemen; a resurgence of extremism and the scourge of the Islamic State; and an escalation in tensions between Iran and Saudi Arabia which has become the most significant clash between regional rivals in decades. From country to country, across the region, sectarian conflict is the thread that runs through each crisis, tying them into a strategic Gordian knot.
