Chinese Company Offers to Build Seria's Corridor 11

Hong Kong based company has sent an offer to Serbia for the construction of the remaining sections of the Corridor 11 highway which will connect Belgrade to the South Adriatic.
Serbia and Montenegro may finally get connected with a highway.
This comes after China Road and Bridge Corporation, CRBC, has sent an offer for the construction of the remaining sections of the Corridor 11 to the Corridors of Serbia company.
A total value of the 270-kilometre-long section is estimated to cost 2.6 billion euro and the Chinese would finance the project from a 10 billion euro loan intended for Eastern European countries.

The Corridors of Serbia representatives have stated that the offer is very serious and that the construction could begin in about a year if the agreement is reached with the Chinese company.
“The Chinese offer envisages that the domestic firms will do 40 percent of the work, which is not bad considering that there is not a lot of work in the construction industry,” Mihajlo Misic, Director Corridors of Serbia public company.
According to Misic, the Chinese are ready to either give Serbia a loan or to build the road as concessionaires.
The Corridors of Serbia representatives say that Chinese loans are one of the most favorable in the market.
The same Chinese company is currently building a China-Serbia Friendship Bridge, the 1,507 metre-long structure, with 21.5 kilometres of access roads, that will stretch across the Danube river and connect the Belgrade municipalities of Borca and Zemun.
