- Τι σας ανησυχεί περισσότερο για την οικονομία το 2012;

- Δηλαδή, εξακολουθείτε να θεωρείτε πιθανό η Ελλάδα να αφήσει τη ζώνη του ευρώ;

- Γιατί στις ΗΠΑ δεν έχει φανεί ως τώρα μια πιο ρωμαλέα ανάκαμψη;

Google's War Against Small Businesses

Computer Topics - Google HQ
The secret behind Google’s profit growth has been revealed in a ZDNet report. The internet giant has launched an attack on smaller businesses who gain revenue from affiliate programs.
By favoring larger brands in its search engine results, Google has increased revenue by billions but, according to ZDNet, such combative tactics are costing jobs as smaller firms that profit from affiliate marketing are displaced. While analysts and media are preoccupied by the publicity of Google’s non-revenue schemes, including G+ and driverless cars, the plan to position itself as the largest affiliate has, until now, gone undetected.

Turkish Opposition: Government Ignoring Presence of al-Qaida

 VOA News
Gaza Militants
Turkish political opposition members are claiming that Turkish authorities are turning a blind eye to Islamic militants based in Turkey who are crossing over the border to join the opposition fighting the Assad government in Syria.
Mehmet Ali Edipoglu is parliamentary deputy for the main opposition Peoples Republic Party, for Hatay -- the main city in the Antakya province that borders Syria.
While he says he has no complaints about the Syrian rebels operating from the region, the past few months there has been a worrying change in the influx of new fighters.

Egypt's Outreach to China and Iran Is Troubling for U.S. Policy

Mohamed Morsi Speaks at Press Conference

Next week, Egypt's Islamist president, Mohamed Morsi, will visit China at the invitation of President Hu Jintao. He will seek investments there that will enable Egypt to "dispense of loans and aid," according to Morsi's party vice chairman. From China, Morsi will travel to Tehran to attend the Non-Aligned Movement summit. Just two months after coming to power, Morsi is pursuing a rapprochement with Tehran and articulating a newfound ambition to jettison billions in U.S. foreign assistance dollars and financing from Western financial institutions. Taken together, these steps suggest that Morsi's Egypt may be headed for a foreign policy shift rivaling the scope of President Anwar Sadat's expulsion of the Soviets in 1972 and subsequent reorientation to the West.

Market Watch: Internal discord leaves ECB’s threats toothless Commentary: Bundesbank’s Weidmann undercuts Dragh

By David Marsh, MarketWatch

LONDON (MarketWatch) — A central bank’s ability to intimidate the financial markets through active, targeted intervention is directly proportional to its ability to deliver on promised action.
Exactly as in the Cold War.
Imagine if Harry S. Truman, Dwight D. Eisenhower or John F. Kennedy threatened the Soviet Union with nuclear retaliation in the event of intrusion on NATO territory. The next day, the president is called to order by his defense secretary who says deploying nuclear weapons is illegal. The deterrent would lose all credibility. Very likely, West Germany would have been overrun in the 1950s or 1960s by the Red Army.

We see certain parallels here with the European Central Bank. In the battle over the euro, Europe is far from speaking with one voice. The ECB Governing Council may decide in coming weeks, by majority vote, to purchase large quantities of government bonds issued by troubled euro states. This requires that Spain or Italy request an official European rescue program and agree to additional reforms and savings.

Forbes: What is Google Really Saying with its Post Apple-Samsung Verdict Talking Points?

Since the Samsung-Apple verdict, Google was silent on their views.  This was surprising, in that this result was one potential outcome, and most companies get well ahead of these coporate talking points.  I suppose Google wanted to lay low until they saw how the press and consumers reacted before throwing an axe into the sea.  Last night, Google finally broke their silence, reported by theVerge.  It was chock full of your expected corporate-speak, but unlike most talking points, it really does say a lot, but also leaves a lot missing as well.  Let’s pick Google’s statement apart, piece by over-architected piece.

Forbes: 'Wiki Weapon Project' Aims To Create A Gun Anyone Can 3D-Print At Home

Cody Wilson has a simple dream: To design the world’s first firearm that can be downloaded from the Internet and built from scratch using only a 3D printer–and then to share it with the world.
Earlier this month, Wilson and a small group of friends who call themselves “Defense Distributed” launched an initiative they’ve dubbed the “ Wiki Weapon Project.” They’re seeking to raise $20,000 to design and release blueprints for a plastic gun anyone can create with an open-source 3D printer known as the RepRap that can be bought for less than $1,000. If all goes according to plan, the thousands of owners of those cheap 3D printers, which extrude thin threads of melted plastic into layers that add up to precisely-shaped three-dimensional objects, will be able to turn the project’s CAD designs into an operational gun capable of firing a standard .22 caliber bullet, all in the privacy of their own garage.
