Το υπουργείο Γεωργίας, Τροφίμων και Κτηνοτροφίας μίσθωσε στο Σουδάν 5 εκατομμύρια στρέμματα γης για 99 χρόνια.

Πρόκειται για εδάφη τα οποία θα χρησιμοποιηθούν για ποικιλία γεωργικών προϊόντων, φρούτων και λαχανικών.

ECB agrees deal to ease Ireland's debt burden

The European Central Bank has agreed a deal which allows Ireland to liquidate Anglo Irish Bank and repay the debt over a longer period of time to ease the burden on the country's taxpayer.

The arrangement, signed off by ECB chiefs at their meeting in Frankfurt, will cancel a debt repayment instalment of €3.1bn (£2.6bn) due next month and every March for the next 10 years, equivalent to about 2pc of the country's GDP.

Anglo Irish Bank, now known as IBRC, will be liquidated under the plan and its outstanding debt will be converted into a new long-term bond intended to spread the repayment over a longer period of time cutting the cost to the state.

At the tail end of a line of questioning about Benghazi, Sen. John McCain (R-Ariz.) asked Panetta and Dempsey whether they supported a plan that the lawmaker said was proposed last summer by then-CIA Director David H. Petraeus — and supported by the State Department — “that we provide weapons to the resistance in Syria.”

Spanish borrowing costs rise at bond auction

Spain's borrowing costs rose as it tapped the debt market on Wednesday for the first time since the eruption of a corruption scandal that has implicated top members of the ruling Popular Party including Prime Minister Mariano Rajoy.

The Treasury raised 4.61 billion euros ($6.25 billion) in medium- and long-term sovereign bonds, with demand outstripping supply by two to one, the central bank said in a statement.

The human rights watchdog group, the Open Society Justice Initiative took an in-depth look at a program whose scope and range had remained unclear despite official acknowledgement from former President George W. Bush and other U.S. officials, reports CNN.
