Έγγραφο 70 σελίδων που αφορά την επίλυση του Κυπριακού υπέβαλαν αξιωματούχοι των Ηνωμένων Εθνών στον Τουρκοκύπριο ηγέτη Ντερβίς Έρογλου, δήλωσε ο ηγέτης του κόμματος Ενωμένη Κύπρος Ιζέτ Ιτζιάν, μετά από συνάντηση με τον γγ του ΑΚΕΛ Άντρο Κυπριανού, στα γραφεία του κόμματος.
Ο κ. Ιτζιάν ανέφερε ότι αυτήν τη στιγμή το έγγραφο βρίσκεται στη διαδικασία μετάφρασης και «δεν γνωρίζει αν παρόμοιο έγγραφο κατατέθηκε και στην ελληνοκυπριακή πλευρά και τον πρόεδρο Ν. Αναστασιάδη ή έστω αν το θέμα αυτό είναι γνωστό στην ελληνοκυπριακή κοινότητα». Όπως είπε, πρόκειται για έγγραφο εργασίας και πρέπει να είναι ενήμερος και ο κ. Αναστασιάδης.
The European Central Bank Broken transmission mechanisms
NEW figures from Europe reveal that both GDP and inflation in the euro area are falling, while unemployment is steadily rising. The mix of pain calls for monetary easing, and at its last policy meeting the European Central Bank did indeed reduce its main interest rate to 0.75%, a record low for the single-currency area. Yet as a recent Free exchange columnexplained, low ECB rates aren't having the desired effect around the struggling periphery:
In 2008, as the euro zone started to contract, the ECB slashed its main rate from 4.25% to 1%. But because investors were worried about the state of the banks, the returns that banks had to offer on their own bonds rose. This offset the ECB’s easing, so that firms’ borrowing rates fell by less than normal.
Greek Minerals Sector Potential in 2013 and Beyond: an Overview
The Greek mineral sector is an overlooked, but developing industry in the country. Greece’s varied soil and geomorphic layers host a variety of minerals and metals. Some are rare, others are not, but all still have different industrial uses and financial value.
However, looming not far in the background of the public and political discussion of the mineral sector is the issue of how the perceived profitability of mineral exploitation is being affected by possible currency changes in years ahead. Although this aspect deserves a study of its own, it is interesting to keep in mind when considering why certain investments have or have not been made in the minerals sector at this time.
A fascinating map of the world’s most and least racially tolerant countries
When two Swedish economists set out to examine whether economic freedom made people any more or less racist, they knew how they would gauge economic freedom, but they needed to find a way to measure a country’s level of racial tolerance. So they turned to something called the World Values Survey, which has been measuring global attitudes and opinions for decades.

Among the dozens of questions that World Values asks, the Swedish economists found one that, they believe, could be a pretty good indicator of tolerance for other races. The survey asked respondents in more than 80 different countries to identify kinds of people they would not want as neighbors. Some respondents, picking from a list, chose “people of a different race.” The more frequently that people in a given country say they don’t want neighbors from other races, the economists reasoned, the less racially tolerant you could call that society. (The study concluded that economic freedom had no correlation with racial tolerance, but it does appear to correlate with tolerance toward homosexuals.)

Σύμφωνα με σημερινά δημοσιεύματα στα ελληνικά blogs ο Ρώσος πρόεδρος Βλαντιμίρ Πούτιν απείλησε ευθέως τον Ισραηλινό πρωθυπουργό Μπέντζαμιν Νετανιάχου για το θέμα της Συρίας κατά την διάρκεια της σημερινής συνάντησης τους. Σε ένα βαθμό την ίδια άποψη είχε και η Ισραηλινή εφημερίδα DEBKA Files σε σχετικό της δημοσίευμα.
Στην παρούσα φάση ο μοναδικός που μπορεί να «επιπλήξει» το Ισραήλ είναι ο αμερικανός πρόεδρος Μπαράκ Ομπάμα. Κανείς άλλος. Και η αιτία προφανή. Το Ισραήλ έχει ανάγκη τις ΗΠΑ περισσότερο από ποτέ. Αυτό φάνηκε και με την απόφαση του Ισραήλ να ζητήσει συγγνώμη στην Τουρκία κάτω από την επιρροή Ομπάμα.

«Θύμα» της οικονομικής κρίσης έχει πέσει η ναυτιλία και ακόμη περισσότερα της ελληνικής με αποτέλεσμα το χαρτοφυλάκιο δανείων των ελληνικών τραπεζών να μειωθεί περαιτέρω κατά 8,6%, στα 12,7 δισ. δολ., από 14,5 δισ. δολ. το 2011.
Σύμφωνα με την ετήσια μελέτη για την τραπεζική χρηματοδότηση του ελληνόκτητου στόλου της Petrofin Research, από τις ελληνικές τράπεζες και πριν γίνει η συγχώνευσή της με την Alpha, η Εμπορική Τράπεζα παραμένει στην πρώτη θέση με 2,48 δισ. δολ. χαρτοφυλάκιο ακολουθούν η ΕΤΕ στην δεύτερη θέση με 2,38 δισ. δολ., η CPB (πρώην Μarfin) με 2,15 δισ. δολ., η Πειραιώς με 1,86 δισ. δολ. και η Alpha Βank με 1,71 δισ. δολ.
