The country was founded as a Catholic, French-speaking state under King Leopald I. Until this date the area had formed parts of various kingdoms and empires, most recently coming under the power of the Dutch and, before that, the French.

IMF urges repeal of 'ill-designed' U.S. cuts

(Reuters) - The International Monetary Fund urged the United States on Friday to repeal sweeping government spending cuts and recommended that the Federal Reserve continue a bond-buying program through at least the end of the year.

In its annual check of the health of the U.S. economy, the IMF forecast economic growth would be a sluggish 1.9 percent this year. The IMF estimates growth would be as much as 1.75 percentage points higher if not for a rush to cut the government's budget deficit.

Ray Kurzweil, director of engineering at Google, also claims that the biological parts of our body will be replaced with mechanical parts and this could happen as early as 2100.
Kurweil made the claims during his conference speech at the Global Futures 2045 International Congress in New York at the weekend.

Θέλουμε να συνεργαστούμε ώστε ο καθένας, είτε ζει στο Σικάγο είτε στο Βερολίνο είτε στην Αθήνα είτε στην Μαδρίτη, να μπορεί να απολαύσει τους καρπούς της εργασίας. Όλοι δικαιούνται ίσες ευκαιρίες, όχι μόνο εκείνοι που βρίσκονται στην κορυφή».

There is always the high seas and ocean floors, says Ambassador Palitha Kohona, who co-chairs a U.N. Working Group on the Conservation and Sustainable Use of Marine Biological Diversity Beyond Areas of National Jurisdiction.

The seas and oceans, which cover 70 percent of the planet, are probably the last frontier on earth with vast areas still to be explored and life forms still to be discovered, he told IPS. And 65 percent of the oceans are beyond national jurisdiction, he added.
