(ANSAmed) - ROME, JANUARY 29 - Africa's population is a demographic bomb waiting to explode, national statistics bureau Istat President Antonio Golini said Wednesday.
''It will grow from one billion people today to 2.4 billion people by 2055, and 700-800 million more jobs will be needed worldwide'', he told participants at the presentation of an Idos research center report titled ''The Moroccan Community in Italy.
A Bridge Over the Mediterranean''.
''We must have a long-term outlook on the fact that migratory pressure from sub-Saharan Africa will only become greater and stronger. It will therefore be necessary to power up the Union for the Mediterranean (UfM) partnership in order to restart the economies of all area countries'', he concluded.
